Europe continues to experience a heatwave. In Germany, the past night, according to preliminary data from the German Meteorological Service, matched the warmest on record: in Bad Bertrich in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the temperature did not drop below +26.2 degrees, writes Die Zeit, citing dpa and DWD.

The same figure was recorded on July 25, 2019, on Mount Weinbiet in the same federal state. At that time, it was considered a record for the warmest night in Germany.

In the United Kingdom, on June 24, the June temperature record has been preliminarily broken. According to the Met Office, in the town of Gosport in Hampshire, the air temperature rose to +36.1 degrees. If confirmed after verification, it will exceed the previous June maximum of +35.6 degrees, which was recorded on June 28, 1976, and June 29, 1957.

The heat is intensifying in Austria as well. GeoSphere Austria has issued a red warning level for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for the northeast of the country, the central part of Upper Austria, parts of Waldviertel and Mostviertel, as well as for the cities of Villach, Klagenfurt, and Graz. In eastern Austria, temperatures of +40 degrees and above are possible over the weekend.

We have already reported that in France, due to extreme temperatures, restrictions on alcohol consumption in public places were introduced, while residents of Berlin held protest swims in the Spree. Later, it became known about fatalities and power outages in France, as well as the deaths of two elderly people from heatstroke in Spain.
