It’s time for dialogue.
Russia will not win the war, stated German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine in Gdańsk, Poland. He assured that Europe and NATO are ready to continue increasing pressure on the Russian economy, and he described Berlin's support for Kyiv as an "unwavering commitment."
In May, European Council President António Costa stated that EU leadership is preparing for potential negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine. According to Bloomberg sources, Costa has privately reached out to the Kremlin. This initiative was assessed as "uncoordinated" and "unprofessional" in Berlin and Paris, notes dpa.
"Russia will not win the war. It’s time to start negotiations, freeze the front line, and put an end to the killings," said the Federal Chancellor of Germany.
