The Number of Ebola Cases is Rapidly Increasing in Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to see a rapid increase in the number of suspected cases of Ebola fever.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reported that more than 900 suspected cases of the disease have been identified so far, of which 101 have already been confirmed in the laboratory.

"More than 900 suspected cases have been identified at this stage, including 101 confirmed cases," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated in a post on social media platform X.

In his address, the Director-General highlighted the challenges associated with combating the spread of the disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. According to him, armed clashes between rebel groups and government-supporting forces hinder the resolution of the situation.

According to the editorial board of bb.lv, the new outbreak of Ebola has once again demonstrated how vulnerable health systems remain in conflict-affected regions. The WHO and international humanitarian organizations continue to urge the global community to strengthen support for the DRC to prevent the further spread of the dangerous virus beyond the country's borders.
