Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia may be preparing a strike on Ukraine using the ballistic missile 'Oreshnik'. According to him, the data on this was received by Ukrainian intelligence, including from Western partners.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of a possible preparation by Russia for a new large-scale strike on the territory of the country using the ballistic missile 'Oreshnik'.
According to the Ukrainian leader, intelligence has received relevant information from its own sources, as well as from partners in the United States and Europe.
"We are verifying this information. We see signs of preparation for a combined strike on the territory of Ukraine, including Kyiv, using various types of weapons," Zelensky stated.
He noted that medium-range missiles may be used in the anticipated attack.
In light of the warning, the president of Ukraine urged the country's residents to take air raid signals seriously and to use shelters if necessary.
"The madness of Russia truly knows no bounds, so please take care of your lives," Zelensky emphasized.
Ukrainian authorities are increasingly warning about the risk of new combined attacks, where different types of missiles, drones, and electronic warfare systems are used simultaneously. Such strikes significantly complicate the operation of air defense systems.
Zelensky also addressed Ukraine's Western allies, stating that the use of such weapons creates a dangerous international precedent.
"If Russia is allowed to destroy lives on such a scale, then no agreements will be able to keep other similar regimes of hatred from aggression and attacks," he said.
According to the Ukrainian president, international pressure on Moscow should increase even before a possible escalation, not just after new strikes.
At the same time, Zelensky reported that Ukraine continues to strengthen its air defense system and is preparing a response to possible attacks.
In recent months, Russia and Ukraine have regularly exchanged massive drone and missile strikes on military and energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, the topic of new Russian ballistic weapons is drawing particular attention both in Ukraine and among NATO countries.
Official comments from the Russian side regarding Zelensky's statement have not yet been received.
