Ukrainian drones attacked the "Metafrax" chemical plant in the Perm region of Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the enterprise is linked to the Russian military industry and halted operations after the strike.
On Saturday, Ukrainian drones struck the "Metafrax" chemical plant in the city of Gubakha in the Perm region, reported Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the Ukrainian leader, the enterprise plays an important role in the Russian chemical industry and is linked to military production.
"'Metafrax' is an important part of the Russian chemical industry. The products of the enterprise supply dozens of other Russian military productions," Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
He stated that the plant supplies products for the production of aircraft, drones, rocket engines, and explosives.
"The production process at the enterprise is currently halted," added the President of Ukraine, thanking the Security Service of Ukraine for the operation carried out.
Earlier, the governor of the Perm region, Dmitry Mahonin, confirmed the drone attack on one of the industrial enterprises in the region, although he did not officially name the facility.
According to him, there are no casualties.
The Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+ claims that the target was indeed "Metafrax" — one of the largest chemical complexes in the region, where ammonia, urea, and melamine are produced.
According to published data, the enterprise is capable of producing nearly 900 tons of ammonia and over 1600 tons of urea per day.
In the wake of the attack, videos of a smoke column began to spread on the internet. The Telegram channel "VotTak" reported that the smoke could be seen near the "Bolshoye Savino" airport in Perm.
It is also reported that fighter jets were scrambled, schools conducted evacuations, and the start of the half marathon in Perm had to be delayed — participants were waiting for the event to begin in an underground parking lot.
In recent months, Ukraine has increasingly struck industrial and infrastructure facilities deep within Russian territory using drones. Oil depots, chemical plants, and facilities related to military logistics have become frequent targets.
For Russian regions, this means an increase in security measures even far from the front line — including airport operation restrictions, evacuations, and disruptions in enterprise operations.
Information on the extent of the damage at the plant is still being clarified.
