The announcement of the death of Monarch Charles III and the national anthem were broadcast, causing listeners to panic.
In the United Kingdom, Radio Caroline has apologized after mistakenly announcing the death of King Charles III.
This was reported by the publication Independent, writes bb.lv.
Radio Caroline, broadcasting in southern England and the Midlands region, made an announcement about the king's death and played the anthem God Save the King.
One online listener reported that the broadcast suddenly cut off, after which the hosts announced a suspension of the program. The broadcast was interrupted for 15 minutes.
After the hosts apologized for the confusion, it became clear that the announcement was made due to a "computer error."
"Due to a computer error in our main studio on Tuesday afternoon (May 19), the 'Death of the Monarch' procedure, which all British stations keep on standby hoping it won't be needed, was accidentally activated, and it was mistakenly announced that His Royal Highness the King had passed away," said station manager Peter Moore on his social media.
He added that Radio Caroline was pleased to broadcast Her Majesty the Queen's Christmas message, and now the King's, and hopes to do so for many years to come.
"We apologize to His Majesty the King and our listeners for any inconvenience," Moore added.
One commentator wrote: "It was a shock, but after I told my wife and neighbors about it, I realized it was a mistake – and perhaps it was a relief, but then I started laughing."
Another commentator was more alarmed by the announcement: "I heard it while working in our garage. I rushed into the house, shouting to my wife: 'He’s dead! Charlie, for heaven's sake, is dead!' She looked at me in surprise and said, 'But he was just at the flower show yesterday.' After carefully checking news websites, we concluded that perhaps I should refrain from alcohol for a while."
On Tuesday, King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in Belfast for their first visit to Northern Ireland this year, having spent the previous day at the Royal Chelsea Flower Show.
