The head of European diplomacy stated that she will not run for the presidency of Estonia. This was reported by ERR.

According to Kallas, despite contemplating possible career scenarios outside her current position, she does not consider participating in the presidential race. She emphasized that she does not see herself as the right person for the role of head of state.

Advertisement Kallas also noted that during her trips to different countries, she sometimes thinks about other diplomatic opportunities; however, she stated that the role of an ambassador is "too calm" for her.

In Estonia, the president is elected by the parliament: a candidate must receive at least 68 votes from the 101 members of the Riigikogu. The next presidential election process will start in August, with voting in parliament scheduled for September 2–3.

The current president, Alar Karis, has previously stated that he is highly unlikely to run for a second term. Meanwhile, there is a discussion in the country about an initiative to switch to direct presidential elections.
