According to authorities, a fire broke out near the Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE as a result of a drone strike. There are no reports of casualties or radiation leaks.

As a result of a drone strike on Sunday, a fire broke out at the outer perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates, once again casting a shadow over the already fragile ceasefire in the military conflict with Iran.

The press service of the Abu Dhabi government reported that an electric generator caught fire outside the main facility. The statement emphasized that there was no radiation leak, no injuries, and the plant continues to operate normally.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the fire affected the electric generator, adding that one of the reactors briefly switched to emergency diesel generators.

The agency's statement also noted that radiation levels at the Barakah nuclear power plant remain normal, and there have been no reports of injuries "following the drone strike."

However, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed "serious concern regarding the incident," stating that "military activities threatening nuclear safety are unacceptable." He urged all parties to "exercise maximum restraint regarding military actions near any nuclear power plant to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident."

Tensions Remain High

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for this alleged attack, and UAE authorities have not publicly accused anyone. However, tensions in the Middle East have begun to rise again in recent weeks due to a series of drone and missile strikes.

The incident occurred amid stalled negotiations over resolving the conflict between Iran and the United States, raising fears of a renewed military confrontation.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media continue to disseminate war-related materials, including showing footage of leading participants handling firearms and going on air fully armed.
