Former head coach of the Ukrainian national team and champion of Russia with Kazan's Rubin, Serhiy Rebrov, contributed 30 million hryvnias – about 681 thousand dollars – as bail for the arrested Andriy Ermak, the former head of President Volodymyr Zelensky's office.
Ukrainian media report this, citing their sources. Of the required 140 million hryvnias, about 35 million have been raised so far, apparently mainly thanks to the efforts of the football star.
Recall that Rebrov played for Kazan's Rubin for one and a half seasons (2008–2009), after which he ended his career. In the championship season of 2008, he scored five goals, four of which were winning – against Zenit, Spartak, Dynamo, and Tom. In June 2009, he left Kazan.
Subsequently, Rebrov transitioned to coaching. From June 2023 to April 2026, he headed the Ukrainian national team, and since January 2024, he has been the vice president of the Ukrainian Football Association.
It is reported that Rebrov and Ermak have known each other for a long time: they have a mutual godfather – businessman and deputy Mykola Tyshchenko, and Ermak himself attended the ex-footballer's wedding in 2016.
Recall that the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has placed Ermak under arrest for 60 days with the possibility of being released on bail of 140 million hryvnias. He has been charged with the legalization of 460 million hryvnias during the construction of the premium-class cottage settlement "Dynasty" in the suburbs of Kyiv in 2020. The criminal case is being investigated under the article on money laundering obtained through criminal means. The former head of the office faces up to 15 years in prison.
"Money for Ermak's bail is still being raised. The task is set to be submitted by 5:00 PM today, otherwise, he will spend the weekend in the pretrial detention center," wrote Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak on his Telegram channel.
