Trump joked about 'another 9 years' in power — the audience was on alert

During a business summit at the White House, Donald Trump once again surprised the audience: he stated that he would be able to use his taxes "in eight to nine years when he leaves office," and assured that he feels "like 50 years ago."

During a speech at a business summit at the White House, Trump noted that he allegedly plans to use his own tax contributions when he leaves office in 8-9 years, which elicited a reaction from the audience.

"We did the right thing. And so, when I leave office, let’s say in eight or nine years, I’ll be able to use them," he said, referring to the measures his administration took to support businesses. In addition, he joked about his age, emphasizing that he does not consider himself older, and compared himself to former President Joe Biden.

"I’m not older. I’m much younger... I feel the same as I did 50 years ago," he said.

Trump also ironically noted that he might someday say he feels unwell, but added that it would be noticeable without words.

"In my opinion, anyone running for president or vice president should take a cognitive test. And no president has ever taken it, except for me. I passed 3 of them, and I passed each one with flying colors," he said.

Is Trump running for a third term?

Donald Trump has publicly touched on the topic of a possible third presidential term before. He has made such statements or hints during speeches and interviews in the past.

In particular, just a week after the inauguration, at a meeting with Republicans in Congress, Trump jokingly addressed House Speaker Mike Johnson, noting that he was unsure if he would be able to participate in the next elections.

Also, in an interview with NBC News in February 2026, he did not rule out the possibility of running for a third presidential term, explaining it as a desire to "make America great again."

However, it is worth noting that the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, adopted in 1951, explicitly limits a president to two terms in office, regardless of whether they are consecutive. Trump's presidential term ends in 2029.

Trump's statements once again balance between a joke and a political signal, writes bb.lv. Formally, a third term is impossible, but such remarks continue to fuel interest and discussions about his future ambitions.
