Mikhail Nozhkin, an actor, member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, and People's Artist of the RSFSR, has died in Moscow at the age of 90. The actor etched his name in the history of cinema thanks to his roles in films such as 'Walking Through the Torments,' 'The Resident's Mistake,' 'Solo Voyage,' and many others. The personal life of the movie star was always vibrant. In 2019, the entire country learned about the actor's illegitimate son.

Mikhail Nozhkin's path to cinema cannot be called easy. His dreams of the stage began in childhood. However, post-war life dictated its own terms.

After school, he enrolled in a construction college of the Moscow City Council, working on construction sites as a milling machine operator, carpenter, and rebar worker. In his free time, Mikhail performed in amateur art groups and attended classes at the studio of the Estrada Theater, where he enrolled in the evening department. After graduating from the studio, he was accepted into the main troupe of the theater.

He made his film debut in the movie 'Two Hours Earlier,' followed by the film 'The Resident's Mistake,' which brought him nationwide fame. It was in this film that the song 'I Drank Birch Juice in the Spring Forest' was featured, which became Nozhkin's calling card. After playing a counterintelligence officer, he acted in the cinematic epic 'Liberation.' In this film, he performed a song with his own lyrics titled 'The Last Battle.'

Then came a significant role in the television series 'Walking Through the Torments.' He considered this role the pinnacle of his acting skills. Mikhail Ivanovich actively acted until the mid-1980s. 'I came to cinema as a very well-known person. Therefore, I had the opportunity to choose roles. Throughout my career in cinema, I turned down dozens of roles because they were uninteresting to me. Mostly, they were negative characters. I never wanted to play villains,' the artist recalled.

His wife was old enough to be his mother

Mikhail Nozhkin was married to Larisa Golubina for 45 years. They met at the theater. At that time, he was 22 years old, and his chosen one was 17 years older. The woman served as the head of the literary department at the Estrada Theater. She was raising a 10-year-old son from her first marriage. In 1959, the lovers got married, and soon Larisa became pregnant. However, she was unable to carry the baby to term. The doctors' verdict was terrible - she would never become a mother again.

'I was very lucky in life. My wife and I lived together for 45 years,' the actor recounted. 'She was an incredibly bright person... We met at the theater, I came to the studio, we looked into each other's eyes once - and we both understood.'

Larisa Lavrentyevna's heart stopped in 2004. Nozhkin never remarried. 'I called my wife “Your Grace.” She helped me believe in myself, in my abilities. She constantly not only encouraged but also propelled my creativity and convinced me - the clumsy and skeptical Thomas - that I could accomplish something. She lived my affairs, my creativity, my plans, trips, and shoots... She was my Bereginya,' Nozhkin said.
