Ukrainian Drones Massively Attacked Leningrad Region

Governor of Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko reported more than 60 downed Ukrainian drones. A fire broke out in the port of Primorsk.

Ukrainian drones massively attacked the Leningrad region on the night of Sunday, May 3. A warning about the threat of an attack in the region was announced late the previous evening. The reflection of the drone strikes continued throughout the night.

"The key target of the attack was the maritime trade port of Primorsk," wrote the governor of Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, on his Telegram channel. According to him, "as a result of repelling the attack," a "fire broke out" in the port, the consequences of which have already been eliminated: "No oil product spills have been recorded." In addition, Drozdenko reported more than 60 downed UAVs.

The Primorsk port is one of the largest transshipment points for the export of Russian oil and diesel fuel. According to Reuters, 16.8 million tons of oil products were exported from it in 2025. At the end of March of this year, it and the Ust-Luga port had already been attacked by drones several times. On March 22, both ports suspended the loading of oil and oil products.

Pulkovo Airport suspended the acceptance and departure of flights for 5 hours.

During the shelling, restrictions on the acceptance and departure of aircraft were introduced at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Rosaviatsiya reported. The cancellation of these restrictions was announced only six hours later. The St. Petersburg publication "Fontanka" writes that they were in effect for at least five hours.

In addition, on the evening of May 2 and the night of May 3, restrictions were imposed in the air harbors of Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Gelendzhik, Sochi, Kostroma, Pskov, as well as Moscow airports Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo. The capabilities of air traffic in and out of the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation were also affected, Rosaviatsiya added.

In total, on the night of May 3, Russian military forces shot down and intercepted 334 Ukrainian drones, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported. This occurred over the territories of Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Oryol, Pskov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver, Tula regions, the Moscow region, and annexed Crimea, the military department reported on its Telegram channel.
