The greatest threat to NATO is its "ongoing disintegration," not external enemies, stated Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on X.
"We all must do everything possible to reverse this catastrophic trend," he urged.
The greatest threat to the transatlantic community are not its external enemies, but the ongoing disintegration of our alliance. We must all do what it takes to reverse this disastrous trend.

As reported by bb.lv, the United States announced the withdrawal of 5,000 of its troops from Germany in the coming months. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius noted that Berlin is not surprised by Washington's decision. The withdrawal of troops is expected to take from six months to a year.
However, the complete withdrawal of American soldiers, officers, and generals from Europe is still far off. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, approximately 68,000 American military personnel were permanently stationed at European bases in December 2025.
Thus, the loss of five thousand troops can be seen as a tool of political pressure rather than a complete deprivation of military support for NATO allies.
In any case, after Trump's demarche, an increase in enthusiasm among European armies regarding real support for the U.S. and Israel in their war against Iran can be expected.
