Israel Transfers Advanced Air Defense Laser System to UAE to Protect Against Iranian Attacks - FT

Israel urgently transferred modern weapon systems to the United Arab Emirates, including the Iron Beam laser system and drone detection means, to help counter the threat from Iran.

Israel hastily transferred high-tech weapon systems to the United Arab Emirates, including the advanced Iron Beam laser system, to help the monarchy defend against a massive strike from Iranian missiles and drones, writes the Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the transfer and deployment process.

According to sources, Israel rushed to provide the UAE with the Spectro surveillance system, which helps detect Shahed-type drones at a distance of up to 20 kilometers. Additionally, the Emirates received one of the versions of the Iron Beam air defense laser system.

Other weapon systems have also been deployed in the Emirates, for which a "significant Israeli military contingent" was sent to provide support.

Israel has also been sharing important real-time intelligence data regarding Iran's preparations for missile launches.

Since the beginning of the war in the Middle East, Iran has launched over 500 ballistic missiles and 2,000 drones at the UAE. The overwhelming majority of targets have been intercepted due to the numerous air defense systems, particularly of Israeli origin, that the UAE has deployed on its territory, FT reports.

The operational transfer of weapons and coordination of actions indicate a noticeable deepening of military cooperation between Israel and the UAE amid regional tensions, writes bb.lv. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the already deployed air defense systems shows that the Emirates are betting on technological superiority in countering missile and drone threats; however, the further development of the conflict remains a key risk factor.
