At a briefing in the Oval Office of the White House, Donald Trump stated that the arrested suspect was "a very sick person."
"I got the impression that he was a lone killer," Trump said about the suspect. "These are crazy people. They are crazy, and we need to deal with them."
Trump stated that the event would be postponed to a later date, adding that this incident was traumatic for First Lady Melania Trump.
"We will not allow anyone to take over our society," he said.
The U.S. President claims he initially did not want to leave. "I fought desperately to stay," Trump stated. But he was told that according to protocol, he should leave, as it was unclear whether this was a lone shooter.
