Turkey is ready for the demining of the Strait of Hormuz, but there is a condition

Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the potential participation of Ankara in demining operations in the Strait of Hormuz. This will only be possible after a peace agreement is reached between Iran and the U.S.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made an important statement: Ankara is ready to consider its participation in demining operations in the Strait of Hormuz. However, this will only happen after Iran and the United States reach a peace agreement. This was reported by "European Truth," citing Reuters.

Speaking to reporters in London on Friday evening, Fidan emphasized that after any agreement is reached, demining will be carried out by a special technical group. He also noted that Turkey generally views such initiatives positively, considering them a humanitarian duty.

The head of the Turkish foreign ministry stated that Ankara would not face "any problems" in participating in demining if a peace agreement is reached. However, the diplomat warned that Turkey would change its position if the future technical coalition of countries becomes involved in conflict in the event of its resumption.

Fidan expressed confidence that all issues regarding Iran's nuclear program would find their resolution during the upcoming round of negotiations in Pakistan. Meanwhile, media reports indicate that U.S. military forces have observed the installation of new mines in the Strait of Hormuz by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps this week.

Earlier, on April 17, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that "as soon as conditions allow," France and the UK will begin a purely defensive military mission. Its goal is to ensure and protect the freedom of navigation in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
