Scientists Unravel the Mystery of the Alien Gold Egg from the Ocean Floor off Alaska

Scientists from the Smithsonian Institution in the United States were able to unravel the mystery of the huge gold egg found on the bottom of Alaska Bay three years after its discovery, reports the Daily Mail.

It was previously believed that the egg belonged to an unknown animal or an alien civilization, emphasizes the author of the material. However, marine biologists have dispelled this myth.

According to Dr. Stephen Oskavich, the object is actually a cluster of dead cells from the giant deep-sea anemone Relicanthus daphneae. The clump was originally attached to a rock, but the anemone either died or moved to a new location.

"It’s very nice that we helped solve the mystery of the egg. Even years after we found it, we periodically received inquiries about its origin. I’m very glad that we can draw attention to such small and unusual things on our planet," Oskavich stated.

The gold egg was discovered in 2023 during a deep-sea expedition led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Operators of the remotely operated vehicle Deep Discoverer were cruising along the ocean floor when they noticed a strange object – it was smooth, shiny, and soft, with a large hole in the front.
