Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the Kremlin is actively preparing for large-scale mobilization. The goal is to repeat a major offensive against Ukraine or aggression against the Baltic states.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed concerns that Russia is actively preparing for general mobilization. In his opinion, this is necessary for the Kremlin to organize a new large-scale offensive against Ukraine or even for aggression against the Baltic states. He shared these thoughts in an interview that aired on Sunday evening during a telethon.
Reasons for Social Media Restrictions
Zelensky noted that the restriction of access to social networks in Russia has deep reasons. According to him, it is not just an attempt to suppress criticism but a desire to prevent possible unrest. He posed the question: "What could cause riots in the northern neighbor? Due to several things or options."
The Threat of General Mobilization
The main reason for potential protests, according to Zelensky, is general mobilization in Russia. Such a measure would affect even the largest cities in the country, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Two Goals of the Large-Scale Offensive
The President clarified the goals of such large-scale mobilization, presenting two possible scenarios. He stated: "Why carry out such a large mobilization? To repeat the offensive, a large offensive against Ukraine. Option B – to spend less and put in less effort and make a parallel small offensive where it can be limited to fewer combat forces. Why? Because a certain country, for example, the Baltics, is not ready for strong resistance."
Summing up his reflections, Zelensky concluded that Russia's strategy looks like this. He stated: "Plan A – large mobilization, reduce social networks to advance."
