Washington Post: Europe Without Protection? A Disturbing Scenario Emerges in the U.S.

Analyst David Ignatius from The Washington Post predicts a possible escalation: Moscow may strike European countries in the near future, as security guarantees from the U.S. raise serious questions.

Columnist David Ignatius presented a frightening scenario in his article for The Washington Post. According to him, Russia is capable of attacking European territories in the near future, while the protection from the U.S. for NATO allies raises serious questions. Ignatius voiced this in the context of recent statements from Moscow regarding possible strikes on European factories producing drones.

Ignatius emphasizes that Donald Trump's aggressive remarks towards European NATO partners have already significantly undermined their faith in American security promises. In the analyst's view, Russia could easily take advantage of this situation, seeing it as an ideal "window of opportunity" for its actions.

"If you are Putin, you might start thinking about the next war — against Europe — even while you continue the fight in Ukraine. You might even wonder if the time has come to strike — before European countries fully rearm, before Ukraine develops new weapons capable of hitting targets even deeper in Russia, and while your friend, President Donald Trump, is in the White House treating NATO like a punching bag," Ignatius writes.

The Washington Post also reminds that this week, the Russian Ministry of Defense, followed by the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, openly threatened Europe. They warned of possible strikes on facilities where drones supplied to Ukraine are produced.
