Russia has created a special laboratory for conducting artillery tests involving humans, as found by the independent Russian online publication "Project," writes LETA, citing TVP.

The publication reports that the State Military Medical Research Institute is attempting to determine the most effective artillery "for the destruction or elimination of enemy manpower." Since 2015, this institute has been the only division of the Russian Ministry of Defense authorized to conduct experiments involving humans.

According to "Project," a test site has been equipped at the facility with a simulation of fortifications and military equipment. During the experiments, researchers monitor the functioning of the circulatory and nervous systems of the volunteers, as well as collect biological samples. This data is used to assess how physical disturbances change depending on the proximity of artillery fire.

To support this program, a scientific-clinical center was established at the institute in 2018. As "Project" discovered, it is designed for 100 beds and includes intensive care, therapy, and surgery departments. In the first year of operation, more than 300 cases involving personnel engaged in testing weapons, medications, and vaccines were recorded at the center.

"Project" also reports that, in addition to munitions, the institute studies performance-enhancing drugs, protective equipment for extreme conditions, and new military technologies.

The investigation also established that the institute is a key participant in the Russian chemical weapons program.

The director of the institute advised officers of the Russian military intelligence involved in the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the UK in 2018, reports "Project."
