There are about 3,500 sailors and Marines on board the USS Tripoli. The ship delivered transport and strike aviation, landing and tactical means.

The first large amphibious ship of the U.S. has arrived in the Middle East, reports Korrespondent. On board are more than 3,000 military personnel, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on social media X on Saturday, March 28.

"U.S. sailors and Marines aboard the amphibious ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7) arrived in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility on March 27," the statement said.

The command noted that this America-class ship is the flagship of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.

There are about 3,500 sailors and Marines on board. The ship delivered transport and strike aviation, landing and tactical means.

Recall that on March 13, the media reported that the USS Tripoli and its assigned Marines were moving from Japan to the Middle East.

A week later, it became known that several more America-class ships were heading to the Middle East. In total, more than 8,000 Marines may arrive in the region.

According to media reports, all these forces could be deployed during the "final strike" by the U.S. against Iran. President Donald Trump will choose among four options.
