Lithuanian Prime Minister Šimonytė: for a meeting with Lithuania, Minsk must meet a number of conditions.
Lithuania is ready to consider a meeting with Belarus at the level of deputy prime ministers under a number of conditions. This statement was made by the Prime Minister of the Republic, Ingrida Šimonytė, as reported by LRT on Telegram.
On March 27, U.S. President Donald Trump's special representative for Belarus, John Sullivan, urged Vilnius to restore relations with Minsk. The Prime Minister of Lithuania outlined three conditions for this. The requirements concerned meteorological balloons, trucks detained at the border, and illegal migration.
"We are only talking about a technical meeting intended for exchanging positions. Such a meeting can take place after these conditions are met," she stated.
Earlier, Lithuania repeatedly accused Belarus of launching meteorological balloons allegedly for smuggling purposes. Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that Vilnius's accusations are allegedly unfounded, and any possible desire of the authorities of the Republic to start a war is unnecessary for the residents of the Baltic states.
