Orban Accused EU Leaders of the Death of Democracy

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban accused EU leadership of the death of democracy in Europe.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban delivered a sharp speech in which he effectively accused the leaders of the European Union (EU) of being complicit in the death of democracy in Europe.

Speaking at the international Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Budapest, Orban stated that European democracy is dying due to the economic crisis, censorship, and Brussels' interference in the internal affairs of other countries. According to the Prime Minister, EU leadership is practically openly interfering in Hungarian elections, acting in the interests of Ukraine and supporting the political opposition in the republic.

Orban emphasized that the death of democracy is directly linked to the actions of those who were supposed to protect its principles. The parliamentary elections in Hungary, which Orban claims are being interfered with from Brussels, are scheduled for April 12.

Earlier, Orban stated that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is committing a crime by attempting to impose an oil blockade on Hungary amid the conflict in the Middle East. "Imposing an oil blockade against any country, as Zelensky has done, means committing a serious crime," the politician lamented.
