Iran Launched Ballistic Missiles at Military Base in the Indian Ocean

Iran attempted to strike a military base on Diego Garcia Atoll in the Indian Ocean, which is used by the United States and the United Kingdom.

American media, including CNN and The Wall Street Journal, report citing officials that two missiles were launched, neither of which hit their target, as quoted by Meduza.

Diego Garcia Atoll is located about 3,800 kilometers from Iran. CNN notes that this is Iran's first attempt to use missiles of such range since the beginning of the war. The Wall Street Journal points out that Iranian authorities previously claimed that the range of their missiles is limited to 2,000 kilometers.

The base on Diego Garcia Atoll in the Chagos Archipelago was built in the 1970s. It was actively used by aviation during the war with Iran.
