Only through Pyongyang can the needs for ammunition be met.
The authorities of North Korea have supplied millions of ammunition for the needs of the Russian army over the past two and a half years, according to "Important Stories" and the British Open Source Centre, which gained access to documents regarding the movements of ships involved in the transportation.
According to their data, since the summer of 2023, four Russian ships have made at least 112 trips to North Korea, during which they delivered between eight and 11 million ammunition for the Russian army. On average, this was about 350,000 ammunition per month, which could have been sufficient for the Russian army for approximately a month of offensive operations.
The supplies from North Korea were handled by two companies: "MG-Fleet" and "Sovfreight." The successor to "MG-Fleet" turned out to be the company "Autoparom Cargo Terminal": in 2021, businessman Jamaldin Pashaev acquired 50% of the company.
In 2024, the United States included him in the sanctions list for importing components from Iran, with which Russia established drone production at the factory in "Alabuga."
Since the fall of 2024, supplies began to decrease, and by early 2026, journalists discovered only one such trip. This may be explained by the fact that Russia has increased its own shell production or that North Korea's stocks have been depleted.
