The American F-35 fighter jet came under fire in Iran while on a mission.
This was reported by CNN, citing two sources.
After the aircraft was shot down, it made an emergency landing at one of the American airbases in the Middle East.
A representative of the U.S. Central Command, Captain Tim Hawkins, stated that the fighter jet was conducting a combat mission over Iran. The aircraft landed safely.
"The aircraft landed safely, and the pilot is in stable condition. This incident is under investigation," Hawkins said.
