Politico: EU fears taking steps that could anger Trump.

European Union (EU) countries are wary of publicly reacting to American strikes on Iran and taking any steps that could anger U.S. President Donald Trump and push him to withdraw support for Ukraine. This was reported by Politico, citing a European diplomat.

According to the publication, European states are divided in their opinions on how to respond to Trump's actions in Iran. Some countries, led by Spain, insist that the EU should call for adherence to international law, which would be an indirect reproach to the U.S. and Israel, while another group of states, including Germany, fears provoking a sharp reaction from Washington.

"We want the U.S. to be involved in the Ukrainian issue. We want them to be engaged in NATO. Is it worth risking achieving these goals to openly talk about Iran? For now, probably not. Is it worth saying, 'Stupid bastards, why did you do this?' No, because we will pay a much greater price for that," said the publication's source.

Earlier, Trump called on China, France, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and other countries affected by the situation in the Middle East to send military ships to the Strait of Hormuz to unblock it.
