The U.S. has shifted the task of protecting ships in the Strait of Hormuz to China

U.S. Department of Energy: China and other Asian countries should protect ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright explained who, in the opinion of the Washington administration, should protect ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. He expressed his viewpoint in an interview with ABC News.

In response to a relevant question, he noted that many countries around the world depend on the supply of goods through this maritime route. And China is the most affected. Additionally, this concerns Japan, Korea, and other countries in Asia. Therefore, Wright believes that the protection of ships in the Strait of Hormuz should be handled by a coalition formed by these states. It is they who should be concerned with restoring safe navigation in this region.

At the same time, he acknowledged that before attacking Iran, the U.S. and Israel did not engage in dialogue with other countries on this matter.

According to Wright, the U.S.-Iran conflict will conclude in the coming weeks. The Secretary is confident in the realism of this prediction, as well as in the fact that immediately after this, the disrupted supply chains will be restored.
