The US Bombed the Iranian Island of Khark; Iran Threatens to Destroy US-Linked Oil Infrastructure 0 11

The island of Khark is home to Iran's largest oil terminal, through which more than 90% of Iran's crude oil and petroleum products are exported.

Trump stated on his social media platform "Truth Social" that military targets on Khark Island were "completely destroyed" during "one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East."

Trump said that he has decided not to strike the oil infrastructure on this island for now. "However, if Iran or anyone else does anything to disrupt the free and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision," Trump warned.

In response to a question about when US naval forces would begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said, "That will happen soon, very soon."

Due to the strikes, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has almost completely stopped. Typically, one-fifth of the world's crude oil and liquefied natural gas shipments pass through it.

So far, the US and Israel have not struck Khark Island, but US officials have indicated that the possibility of taking control of this island may be considered.

Iran's armed forces threatened on Saturday to destroy US-linked oil infrastructure following US President Donald Trump's statement about the bombing of Khark Island, LETA reports citing AFP.

The central command of the Iranian army stated that the oil and energy infrastructure owned by companies cooperating with the US would be "immediately destroyed and turned into a pile of ashes" if Iran's energy facilities were attacked.

This statement, reported by Iranian news agencies "Fars" and "Tasnim," was a response to the statements made by the US president.
