Iran will strike American companies in the region if its energy facilities are attacked in the U.S. and Israel's war against Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on Saturday, LETA reported citing AFP.

On Friday, American military forces struck the island of Khark, from which almost all Iranian oil is exported, and U.S. President Donald Trump stated that all military targets were destroyed, however, energy facilities remained untouched.

"Our armed forces have already stated that they will respond if our oil and energy infrastructure is attacked," said Araqchi to MS NOW.

Iran "will strike any energy infrastructure in the region that belongs to an American company or in which an American company is a co-owner," he added.

Araqchi stated that the U.S. strikes on Khark used short-range missiles launched from two bases in the United Arab Emirates, one of which is located near Dubai.

"They are using the territory of our neighboring countries to attack us with such missiles, and this is absolutely unacceptable," emphasized the Iranian Foreign Minister.

"It is very dangerous that they are using densely populated areas," he said. "We would certainly respond with a counter-strike, but we are trying to be careful not to attack populated areas," he claims.

Earlier, the central command of the Iranian army also stated that the oil and energy infrastructure belonging to companies cooperating with the U.S. would be "immediately destroyed and turned into a pile of ashes" if Iran's energy facilities were attacked.

On Friday, Trump threatened to bomb the oil infrastructure on the island of Khark if Iran does not allow the free transport of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
