Almost three hundred tankers stranded in the Persian Gulf

Only three oil tankers crossed the Strait of Hormuz from March 6 to 9.

Some vessels have returned to their ports of departure, while about 77% of the tankers in the Persian Gulf are still anchored or moored at the docks of port terminals, according to monitoring by maritime tracking services.

According to experts' estimates, the volume of hydrocarbons on board tankers in the Persian Gulf has increased to 22.7 million tons, of which 17.3 million tons is crude oil.

Currently, there are 141 oil tankers, 133 product tankers, and 17 LNG carriers in the region.

Analysts also add that product tankers have become more actively loaded with crude oil. "Additionally, we note that the volumes of oil transshipment in the Persian Gulf remain at normal levels only in the UAE, while in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait, they have deviated more than twice downward from normal values," the analytical material states.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most important maritime trade routes in the world and key for oil transit. Approximately one-fifth of the world's oil and gas supplies pass through it. Due to U.S. actions against Iran, tankers and other commercial vessels associated with hostile countries are not allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
