Russia provides Iran with data on targets for strikes against American military facilities - media 0 20

Russia is providing Iran with information for strikes against American military facilities in the Middle East, The Washington Post reports, citing three officials familiar with the intelligence data, as quoted by "Meduza".

According to one of the publication's sources, the data provided by Russia includes information about American ships and aircraft. The extent of Russian assistance at this stage is not entirely clear, but the source described the cooperation between the two countries in this area as "quite comprehensive".

The Washington Post notes that Iran's ability to independently gather intelligence has diminished after the strikes carried out in the early days of the war, while Russia possesses the relevant capabilities, including satellite constellations.

Dara Massicot, a Russian military expert from the Carnegie Endowment, noted that Iran "conducts very precise strikes" against American military facilities and does so "very deliberately", aiming to hit command centers and control systems.

Nicole Graevski from the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard pointed out that the effectiveness of Iran's strikes has increased even compared to the military conflict with Israel in 2025 — a 12-day war.

The U.S. Department of Defense declined to comment on reports that Russia is providing Iran with information for strikes.

Sources from The Washington Post reminded that the U.S. provides Ukraine with data for strikes against Russian targets. "The Russians are more than aware of the assistance we are providing to the Ukrainians," one of the publication's sources said. "I think they were very happy to try to repay in some way."

The U.S. and Israel have been striking Iran since February 28. Iran is attacking Israel and U.S. ally countries in the Persian Gulf with drones and missiles. Targets for Iran include military bases used by the U.S.

CNN journalists, analyzing satellite images, concluded that at least one radar of the American THAAD missile defense system located in Jordan was destroyed as a result of Iranian strikes. Strikes were also carried out against two military facilities in the UAE, where THAAD components may have been located.
