On the night of March 2, three American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets were shot down over Kuwait. This apparently resulted from friendly fire from Kuwaiti air defense systems.
According to a report from the U.S. Air Force, the incident occurred at 11:03 PM Eastern Time. At the time of the incident, active combat operations were underway in the region, including attacks by Iranian drones, ballistic missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
During the fighting, American fighter jets were mistakenly identified as a threat and shot down by Kuwaiti air defense systems.
Each of the three aircraft had two crew members on board - a pilot and a navigator, and all six servicemen were able to eject safely. They were rescued, and their condition is reported as stable.
Throughout the day, several videos circulated showing local residents arriving at the crash site and assisting the pilots. In the evening, a video was released showing Kuwaiti residents approaching the crash site of the woman pilot, who initially appears frightened but then calms down as they thank her for "helping to protect Kuwait."
The circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation, and the Pentagon stated that further details will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
