The U.S. announced the destruction of an Iranian Navy Jamaran-class destroyer in the Gulf of Oman.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on social media platform X about the destruction of an Iranian Navy Jamaran-class destroyer in the Gulf of Oman near the Chabahar pier at the beginning of Operation Epic Fury.

Currently, the ship is sinking. No additional details have been provided.

It was previously reported that two tankers flying the flags of U.S.-associated states (the Republic of Palau and the Marshall Islands) have already come under fire in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.

The first was Skylight (included in the U.S. sanctions list), which caught fire as a result of the strike. The crew had to be evacuated, and the vessel began to sink. The second tanker, MKD VYOM, was hit by a projectile, and its damages have not been specified.

According to the MarineTraffic ship tracking platform, by the middle of March 1, up to two hundred tankers involved in transporting oil or liquefied natural gas (LNG) have accumulated and are not moving on both sides of the Strait of Hormuz. Conflicting information has been coming from Iran regarding the closure of the strait.
