The Israel Defense Forces reported on March 1 that 40 Iranian commanders were killed as a result of Israeli strikes, including the Chief of Staff of the Iranian army Abdulrahim Mousavi.
"With the start of the preventive operation, the Israeli Air Force has eliminated 40 senior commanders — this is a historic strike made possible by intelligence data from the Israel Defense Forces," the IDF stated, as quoted by Meduza.
The press service noted that Israeli fighter jets killed seven members of the Iranian security leadership who had gathered in several locations in Tehran. The IDF claims to have killed "the majority of senior military officials of the Iranian leadership." They were killed "during the first strike — within one minute," the Israel Defense Forces stated.
Iranian authorities have not yet reported how many military personnel were killed as a result of the Israeli strikes. Official Tehran confirmed that the Chief of Staff Abdulrahim Mousavi was killed.
