Dmitry Medvedev called the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei a barbaric act of violence. However, Russia does not intend to assist Iran in the war as its ally.
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, assessed the joint operation of the United States and Israel in Iran. He wrote about this in a telegram to the President of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Pezeshkian.
In his address, Medvedev called the execution of Iran's Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei a "barbaric act of violence" that has no justification. He emphasized that what happened was a "cynical atrocity" that violates all principles of international law.
"We are confident that treacherous, inhumane strikes will not break the resilience and courage of the people of Iran," noted the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council. He also condemned the "indiscriminate" attacks that led to the destruction of innocent people, including a large number of children. However, Medvedev remained silent about the children killed during the four-year war in Ukraine.
