The US captured the tanker Veronica III in the Indian Ocean, which was carrying Iranian oil.

Last night, American forces captured the tanker Veronica III in the Indian Ocean, which had been placed on the US sanctions list for transporting Iranian oil. The operation was reported by the US Department of Defense.

According to the Pentagon, the maritime operation to intercept and board the vessel was conducted without incident. "The ship was attempting to evade the restrictions imposed by President [Donald] Trump, hoping to slip away. We tracked it from the Caribbean Sea to the Indian Ocean," the department noted, promising to continue to "deny illegal actors and their proxies freedom of movement in the maritime domain."

No details were provided regarding further actions taken by the military concerning the tanker and its crew. According to the latest data from the Marine Traffic portal, the tanker is located in the western part of the Indian Ocean.

According to the OpenSanctions portal, the tanker Veronica III sails under the flag of Panama and has been accused of illegally transporting Iranian oil, which is under sanctions.
