The Chief of the General Staff of the French Armed Forces, Fabien Mandon, stated that NATO has gained full control over the Baltic Sea following the accession of Finland and Sweden to the alliance. A recording of his speech is available on the social network X.

"The accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO marks a clear shift regarding the Baltic Sea, which can be closed at any moment at will. This sea, which was previously not under full NATO control, is now under its control," the military official noted.

At the same time, Mandon emphasized that this fact is allegedly "bad news" for the Russian side.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that NATO wants to control all ships in the Baltic Sea, including its neutral waters. "All participants of the meeting and NATO Secretary General [Mark Rutte] agreed that protection is needed not only in territorial waters, but also that vessels outside territorial waters will need to be controlled," the head of the Polish government said.
