NYT: Iran is ready to suspend its nuclear program for a deal with the U.S.
Iran is ready to suspend or roll back its nuclear program in exchange for a deal with the United States. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT) citing sources.
"Tehran may be prepared for a possible agreement with the United States to suspend or close its nuclear program, which would be a significant concession. However, Iranian authorities would prefer a resolution [of the conflict] through the creation of a regional consortium for nuclear energy production involving the U.S.," two unnamed Iranian officials told the publication.
Additionally, according to other sources, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, the American leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and high-ranking officials from Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt will be present at the negotiations between the two countries.
Earlier, CNN reported that senior representatives from the U.S. and Iran may hold a meeting on Friday, February 6, in Turkey amid efforts to resume nuclear negotiations and regional settlement.
