Versions of a cyberattack or external interference have not been confirmed, the energy minister noted in his message.
Energy workers have restored power supply in all regions of Ukraine after a systemic failure that occurred this morning, writes Korrespondent. Regions are now returning to scheduled power outages. This was reported by Energy Minister Denis Shmyhal on Telegram.
"All regions are returning to scheduled plans, high-voltage lines and substations are operating normally. Energy workers acted as quickly as possible," the message states.
According to him, two accidents occurred on high-voltage lines with a one-minute interval in the morning, leading to cascading outages in seven regions of Ukraine.
"Versions of a cyberattack or external interference have not been confirmed. According to preliminary estimates, this happened due to the icing of lines and equipment," Shmyhal explained.
He added that the situation will be severe today in the north, in the center of the country, and in the Odessa region. In particular, in Kyiv, 64 teams are working on restoring power supply, while 220 teams are working on restoring heating.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published an evening video address, where he also mentioned the difficult situation in Kyiv.
"There is a significant heating deficit, almost 3,500 houses in different areas are without heat. The city, utility services, and energy workers promise to rectify the heating situation as much as possible by tomorrow morning, but this pace needs to be faster. As for water supply in Kyiv, today water should be available to all consumers," the president noted.
Earlier, Ukrenergo reported that the energy system of Ukraine is now recovering after the simultaneous disconnection of high-voltage lines between the energy systems of Romania and Moldova and between the western and central parts of Ukraine.
