The U.S. 'nuclear sniffer' has arrived in Britain amid threats from Iran.
The U.S. Air Force reconnaissance aircraft WC-135R Constant Phoenix, designed to detect radioactive particles in the atmosphere, has landed at Mildenhall Air Base in the UK. This was reported by The Telegraph.
The aircraft, known as the 'nuclear sniffer', arrived in Britain amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran. Previously, similar aircraft were sent to the Middle East shortly before U.S. strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities in June 2025, and they also appeared in the UK in January 2022, just weeks before the start of the Russian special military operation.
Sources from the defense sector emphasized that the presence of the aircraft does not necessarily indicate immediate military action. According to them, the WC-135R is reportedly conducting global monitoring missions to ensure that ground-based nuclear tests are not being carried out.
Earlier, CNN reported, citing sources, that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering a significant strike against Iran following the failure of negotiations between the two countries regarding the limitation of Tehran's nuclear program.
