It Became Clear Why Macron Wore Sunglasses at the Forum in Davos

French President Emmanuel Macron found himself in the spotlight at the World Economic Forum in Davos not only for his speech but mainly for his unusual appearance. Addressing world leaders indoors, Macron wore bright blue mirrored aviator sunglasses — a detail that immediately raised questions and sparked lively discussions, writes tv3.lv.

Typically, leaders at such events can be seen in a classic, restrained style; however, Macron's choice of accessory stood out sharply against this backdrop. The president himself did not publicly comment on his choice, but French media report that the sunglasses are related to his health condition — Macron had a ruptured blood vessel in his eye or a subcutaneous hemorrhage under the conjunctiva.

Earlier, during a military event in southern France, Macron was already seen with a reddened eye and briefly wore similar glasses. At that time, he described the situation as harmless and even joked, referring to his appearance as 'tiger eye' — a nod to the iconic song from the 1980s film 'Rocky III'.

Although such a condition of the eye is not dangerous and does not affect vision, it can attract attention in the public sphere. As noted by doctor and media commentator Jimmy Mohammed, Macron's choice was more visual than medical: the glasses served not so much to protect his eyes as to maintain the president's image.

On social media, Macron's appearance sparked mixed reactions — some called him a show-off, while others compared him to Hollywood characters, joking about a 'cyborg' look or the aesthetics of the movie Top Gun. For some, the blue 'aviators' became a stylish symbol of confidence, while for others, they were an inappropriate and ostentatious element.

Regardless of how this accessory is evaluated, Macron's choice became one of the most notable visual moments of the summit in Davos, momentarily overshadowing even the content of his speech and highlighting the significance of image and visual perception in modern politics.
