The Russian army has once again attacked Ukraine's energy facilities with drones. In the Bucha district of Kyiv region, 56,000 families have been left without power, including in Bucha, Hostomel, and Irpin. Currently, temperatures there drop to -19°C at night, reports DW.

Due to new attacks by Russian drones, 56,000 families in the Bucha district of Kyiv region have been left without power. This was reported by the Ukrainian electricity operator DTEK on Saturday, January 17. According to them, restoration works are underway, but the situation is complicated by the freezing weather. Currently, in Kyiv and its surroundings, temperatures are around -10°C during the day and down to -19°C at night.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, 50 apartment buildings in the capital remain without heating. After the Russian strike on January 9, their number was about 6,000.

Drone Attacks on Odesa Region and Kharkiv

In total, on the night of January 17, the Russian army launched 115 drones at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense shot down 96 of them, reported the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The authorities of Odesa region also reported a strike on an energy facility. A fire broke out, but there were no injuries. No information has been provided about affected consumers.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported a shelling of a heat and electricity supply facility. One person was injured. The city's utility system is operational, but "with each shelling, centralized heating and electricity supply becomes increasingly difficult," the official wrote.

Volodymyr Zelensky held an online meeting regarding the energy system of Ukraine's regions. "The most challenging situation is in Kyiv and the region, Kharkiv and the region, Zaporizhzhia and the region. After the nighttime strike on Kyiv region, additional problems have arisen for Hostomel, Bucha, and Irpin," wrote the President of Ukraine.
