Representatives of the ancient people are in no hurry to move to the warring country.

The Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel has published its annual report "Demography-2025". According to researchers' estimates, Israel's population grew by less than 1% over the year – approximately 0.9%, which is the lowest figure since the founding of the state in 1948.

The report notes that the slowdown is linked to several factors: an increase in deaths due to an aging population, a continued decline in birth rates (across almost all population groups), and changes in migration trends.

According to data presented in the publication, the migration balance has remained negative for the second consecutive year: in 2024, it was approximately minus 26,000 people, and in 2025, the gap is projected to increase to about minus 37,000. At the same time, the authors emphasize that in the coming years, the role of migration in the overall population dynamics will increase.

The head of the demographic research department, Professor Alex Weinreb, stated that Israel is entering a "new demographic era," in which the high natural growth of past decades will no longer be the "norm," and migration policy is becoming an increasingly significant factor for the country's demographic trajectory.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Israel, the total population of Israel (including foreign workers and illegal immigrants) was 10,027,000 people. Of these:

  • 7,707,000 (76.9%) — Jews and national minorities (Christians who are not Arabs, including Arameans, Samaritans, Armenians, Copts, etc.), as well as residents who do not fall under the definition of Jewishness by the State of Israel;

  • 2,104,000 (21.0%) — Arabs (including Druze, Circassians);

  • 216,000 (2.1%) — foreigners.
