Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU) is a key security guarantee for Kyiv. This was stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on her social media account X.
"Ultimately, the prosperity of the Ukrainian state depends on joining the EU. This is also a key security guarantee in itself," the politician noted.
Von der Leyen added that Ukraine's accession to the European Union would allegedly benefit other countries in the bloc, citing the experience of previous waves of enlargement.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that peace in Ukraine could be achieved within a few weeks, but for this, Kyiv would need to compromise on territorial issues. According to the politician, any possible territorial concessions from Kyiv must be backed by real, reliable security guarantees for Ukraine from Western countries, including the United States.
