In Moscow, two police officers were killed in an explosion while attempting to detain a suspicious man on Wednesday night, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported, according to LETA citing AFP and Meduza.
The explosion occurred near the location where Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, the head of the Operational Training Department of the General Staff of Russia, was eliminated on Monday.
The incident took place around 1:30 AM (12:30 AM Latvian time) at a police station in southern Moscow.
When police officers approached a suspicious individual near their patrol car, he detonated an explosive device, according to a statement from the Investigative Committee.
As a result of the explosion, a man who activated the explosive device also died.
The Telegram channel "Baza," associated with law enforcement, reports that two other police officers were injured in the explosion and were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
"Baza" also claims that the explosive device was placed under the police vehicle.
