French President Macron called the results of the EU summit for Ukraine "very good."
French President Emmanuel Macron highly praised the outcomes of the European Council summit for Ukraine, despite the change in the funding source in favor of a loan backed by the European Union (EU) budget guarantees, rather than from frozen Russian assets. The politician stated this at a press conference following the summit.
"We provided Ukraine with what we promised. The absence of a decision would have been a disaster," said the French leader.
The president called the commitment made clear and specific, emphasizing that the summit was "very good" for Kyiv. Macron noted that the decision of European countries sends a signal of stability and long-term support to Ukraine.
Earlier, Macron stated that frozen assets are one of the main levers of EU pressure on Russia in negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
