Face to Face - Macron stated that Europeans need to talk to Putin

Macron suggested talking to Putin "without intermediaries."

French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters that it would be "beneficial" for European representatives to talk to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"I think that we, Europeans and Ukrainians, need to find a framework for proper discussion," he said.

As Politico reports, this statement came amid a surge in peace talks between Ukraine and the U.S., as well as the U.S. and Russia, following a meeting in Berlin this week.

Macron also added that Europeans should not allow the dialogue to be conducted solely through "intermediaries."

Peace Talks on Ukraine

Recently, negotiations will take place in Miami between representatives of the U.S. and Russia regarding the American "peace plan" for Ukraine.

Russia will be represented at the talks by the Kremlin's special representative and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev. It is noted that he will meet with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, as well as Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Earlier, Putin stated that Russia is open to U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine, adding that Europe will be forced to negotiate with Russia, "as it inevitably becomes stronger."

The Kremlin dictator added that Russia is open to resuming diplomacy with the continent, "if not with the current politicians, then when the political elites in Europe change."
