The Louvre will increase ticket prices for foreign visitors by 45%

The increase in ticket prices will bring an additional €20 million to the museum each year. This will go towards "addressing structural issues" following the brazen robbery that took place last month.

Art lovers from the UK, USA, and China who wish to admire the mysterious smile of the "Mona Lisa" will have to pay more for this next year.

The Louvre has decided to raise the ticket price for non-European visitors by 45% starting in 2026. From January 14, the price for citizens of countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA, which includes EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway) will be €32. This is €10 more than the current price for a visit to the most visited museum in the world.

The increase, approved on Thursday by the Louvre's board of directors, will primarily affect Americans, who make up the largest contingent of foreign tourists, as well as Chinese visitors, who rank third, according to the museum's activity report for 2024.

Last year, the Louvre welcomed 8.7 million people, 69% of whom came from abroad.
