A military transport aircraft An-22 crashed in the Ivanovo region of Russia, Russian media report, LETA writes citing Meduza.
There were seven people on board the aircraft. Their fate is unknown.
"The plane crashed in an uninhabited area. A search and rescue team has been dispatched to the crash site to determine the fate of the crew," the Ministry of Defense stated.
"To clarify all the circumstances of the aviation accident, a commission from the Russian Aerospace Forces has flown to the scene," the ministry reported.
The An-22 is designed for transporting weapons, military equipment, and soldiers over long distances.
In the summer of 2024, the command of the Russian Aerospace Forces announced the cessation of operation of the remaining An-22 aircraft.
